The Wall Street Journal reports today that Google is very unhappy with Apples new* iPhone operating system rules, which were announced Monday June 7th, as it thinks they prevent app developers from using Googles advertising platform on Apples devices. According to the WSJ, Omar Hamoui, founder of Googles newly acquired AdMob platform, said in a blog post that Apples new terms drastically limit developers choices regarding how to turn a profit. *Hamoui stated that this is also bad for the consumer, as advertising funds many of the free and cheap ads we know and love.
This change is not in the best interests of users or developers, he wrote, adding that he would soon to speaking to Apple about his concerns.
The new terms prohibit developers from using third-party analytics software in their apps to send data for analysis, and those in the know have warned that the new rules could also adversely affect the likes of Microsoft, AOL and Yahoo as well as Google.
